Debate Team

Guided by the principles of effective communication and critical thinking, the Fenwick Debate Team is a place where students sharpen their skills in rhetoric, research, and presentation. Whether it's dissecting complex global issues, exploring philosophical dilemmas, or analyzing current events, our debaters delve into a wide array of topics that stimulate their curiosity and broaden their horizons.

Led by experienced coaches who foster an environment of learning and growth, our team members develop a deep understanding of various debating formats, such as Lincoln-Douglas, and Public Forum debate. These formats not only teach students how to structure and convey their arguments but also instill invaluable life skills such as teamwork, empathy, and adaptability.

Beyond the exhilarating world of competitions, the team is a tight-knit community that encourages collaboration and camaraderie. Students engage in rigorous research, honing their ability to gather credible evidence and construct compelling cases. They learn to think on their feet, constructing rebuttals that elegantly dismantle opposing arguments while upholding their own positions with poise and conviction.

Joining the Fenwick Debate Team means embracing the thrill of intellectual competition, the joy of mastering the art of persuasion, and the pride of contributing to a tradition of excellence. Here, eloquence meets conviction, and students evolve into articulate advocates who are poised to make their mark on the world, armed with the power of words and the wisdom of rigorous analysis.
